Observations

It's not that Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid and Howard Dean aren't the first people I would pick to bring the nomination to a legitimate and fair (ie, not changing the rules to seat MI and FL) conclusion -- it's that they are the last people I would pick.

State of the Union, 5/23

White Sox, First Place AL Central
Cubs, First Place NL Central
Bulls, Improbable NBA Draft Lottery Winners
Obama, Presumptive Democratic Nominee

On all counts, I cautiously wait for the other shoe to drop.

Am I allowed to say this?

Thank you George Bush.

And fuck you agrobusiness and American farmers. Blow me. YES, sugar subsidies! Necessary for the future of this country and continued inefficient use of sugar beet sugar. That ethanol movement is really helping the working class by not helping the greenhouse gas problem and increasing pressure on food prices.

Notes From the Underground

Airport food courts are a goldmine of interesting observations about the American body politic. For example, the guy sitting next to me thinks that:

A) McCain is a closet liberal.
B) McCain is pro-choice.
C) The next four years are an opportunity for not only relalignment, but for a third party to emerge that "has values that are important to people."
D) (To his friend in Washington St) "Yeah, Washington's pretty liberal, except for Eastern Washington... it's a little smaller, more country, better values."
