It's cool, he was misinterpreted and misquoted. I mean, you know how it is, you're speaking to your mosque, you're the head guy, you're not expecting anyone to listen to you or take you too seriously. What is wrong with the media these days? Oh well, he's off the job for a couple weeks--that'll teach him.

In that he's saying something fucked up but not beyond the pale of our own popular culture. The white man has a proud tradition of encouraging rich people to say hateful things--Tom Cruise, Mel Gibson, Ann Coulter, Sean Hannity, whathaveyou. This cleric's just trading in some good old fashioned disgusting misogyny, which seems like it ought to fit right in with our own prevailing ethos.
