US Soccer Gets Fucked
God damn it, this really would have been *so* helpful for the program. What in the hell are we going to do now...?????

Very narrowly beat me to it. I'm extremely unimpressed by the raft of other "high profile" candidates--Pekerman, Queiroz, et al. Klinsmann was certainly the perfect candidate in that he knows the world game but actually, say, speaks English and can presumably understand the peculiarities of US soccer. A dark day indeed.

He has worked with MLS, which is totally key. No other international coach (which I think is probably what we need) knows MLS at all, or anything that's going on with it. So no promising players from MLS, it'll probably be the same people who made it to Europe...
We have good players in Europe, but we don't really have any great players in Europe and what we really need are *great* players and to me that probably means scouting them out in the MLS, even if we have to wade through a billion shitty MLS players.
